Katrina and the destruction of the South

I don't know about you, but I've been deeply touched by what I am seeing of the destruction in the South. While I've never visited that part of the country, my grandmother and greatgrandmother were from New Orleans and my son's fathers family are in Mississippi.

New Orleans was on my places to visit this winter (thanks to freq flyer miles!)...as I've always wanted to go there.

Are any of you in the south (and still amazingly online)? Do you have family in the area? Business partners? Other connections?How are you doing? What are you doing?

I want to caution you regarding donations. There are new scams being set up every minute. Stick with those we can trust such as:
